The original title of this book when it was published in 1939 was "Ten Little Niggers," a title that immediately prompted considerable protest. It was published in the United States as "And Then There Were None," in 1940, and in 1965 as "Ten Little Indians." Ten people are invited to Indian island and accused of murder by a faceless voice.
