The trenches of World War II form the basis for this action packed drama which debuted on American television in the early 1960s. Vic Morrow (as Sgt. Chip Saunders) and Rick Jason (as Lt. Gil Hanley) starred throughout the show, alongside a variety of guest stars (Robert Culp, Dean Stockwell, and Joan Hackett among many others in Season 1), and revered directors (Richard Donner, Ted Post). The theme behind the show was one of companionship against seemingly insurmountable odds, with weekly episodes confronting the brutality of war, and the coping strategies needed to get through it.
