The first volume in a purported series of live moe. material, DR. STAN'S PRESCRIPTION VOLUME 1 was compiled by band historian and archivist Dr. Stan Lobitz (yes, he is a real doctor) from his massive library of moe. recordings. A three-disc package, this collection contains a 2004 performance that band gave aboard a Caribbean cruise ship, and selections from a 1995 gig from Vail, Colorado.

On these recordings moe. aren't quite the tight unit they'd evolve into (especially on the '95 tapes), but there's a freewheeling sense of fun that pervades these shows, especially in the band's offhanded treatment of covers like the Band's "The Weight" and Pink Floyd's "Interstellar Overdrive." DR. STAN'S collection show's that moe.'s good-time, jam band approach (which still brims with plenty of fine playing here) was in full effect even early on.
